Our experienced team of over 60 dentolegal consultants is here to help you. Our consultants are all dental professionals from a wide range of backgrounds, including experienced and practising dentists.

  • Andrew Walker
    Associate Dentolegal Adviser
    BDS MFDS M Clin Dent (Perio)

    Andy graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2005. After completing his vocational training he spent two years as an SHO in the Maxillofacial Department at York District Hospital. Following this, he moved back to Sheffield to undertake a part-time specialist training programme in periodontology. During his training Andy also worked in NHS general practice and at an access centre.

    Having completed his training he relocated to Manchester and worked in a referral practice, private general practice and as a specialty dentist at Liverpool Dental Hospital. He now continues to work in specialist referral practice and as a clinical tutor at The University of Liverpool Dental School.

  • Claire Walsh
    Associate Dentolegal Adviser
    BDS DipFMS MML

    Claire graduated from Glasgow in 1993 and on completion of vocational training was an associate in a predominantly-NHS general practice for 14 years, followed by a four-year term as Clinical Director for Integrated Dental Holdings’ Scottish practices.

    Claire formerly sat on both local and national BDA committees and Greater Glasgow LDC, and for many years contributed a regular column to the Scottish Dental Magazine (formerly Scottish Dentist).

    Claire joined Dental Protection in 2008 as a Local Dental Adviser and from 2009 has worked part-time in our Edinburgh office as an Associate Dentolegal Adviser.

  • Brian Westbury
    Senior Dentolegal Adviser
    BA BDS LDSRCS MGDSRCS LLM

    Brian graduated from the Royal London Hospital in 1970. He was one of our original Local Advisers, and was a member of the GDSC working party on complaints and disciplinary procedures. He has worked for many years in general practice and served as Secretary of his LDC for over twenty years, and has considerable experience of health authorities and the GDC.

    Brian was a founder board member of the Faculty of GDP's at the Royal College of Surgeons. He has a BA in psychology from the Open University and more recently gained an LLM. He was a member of the Dental Vocational Training Appeal Body and is a Trustee of the Dentists' Health Support Trust. He has a particular interest in helping dental members to reduce their exposure to risk and also those with health problems.

  • Jane Woodington
    Associate Dentolegal Adviser
    BDS FFGDP RCS(Eng) MBA

    Jane graduated from Glasgow University in 1991, has worked in the NHS in general dental practice in the UK, and has international experience, working as a a General Dentist in government and private clinics in Australia, and a military hospital in Saudi Arabia. She works in general dental practice as a clinical director for a successful dental body corporate.

    Jane holds the FGDP Postgraduate Diploma in Dental Health Services Leadership and Management, FGDP Certificate in Dental Practice Appraisals, and Fellowship of the FGDP Royal College of Surgeons. She has her Master in Business Administration, and is currently studying for her LLM in Medical Law and Ethics.

  • George Wright
    Associate Dentolegal Adviser
    BDS, MJDF RCS Eng

    George graduated with honours from the University of Sheffield and has since been in general practice working predominantly in the NHS. George now shares his time between his work as Associate Dentolegal Adviser for Dental Protection in Leeds, and general practice where he is appointed Foundation Trainer with the South Yorkshire Deanery. Having a keen interest in dental education, George is the current Training Programme Director for the Performer List Validation by Experience process in South Yorkshire and the Humber.

    As a GDP representative on the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Dental Local Professional Network Steering Group, George sits on the working groups for procurement of the Community Dental Services and Access to Primary Dental Care. George is an active member of the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Local Dental Committee, and has responsibility for events in the region. In 2015 he was appointed Postgraduate Dental Tutor with Health Education England working across Yorkshire and the Humber and is the current President of the South Yorkshire Branch of the BDA.

    George has achieved the Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Law and Ethics.
